Temitayo Ogunbiyi

American/Nigerian 1984- 

Temitayo Ogunbiyi is a Lagos-based artist and curator born in Rochester, NY, in 1984. Her work explores the intersection of global events, anthropology, and botanical culture and spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. She is known for creating functional playgrounds from construction materials and household items, encouraging open-ended play and creative exploration. Ogunbiyi has received several awards, such as the Graham Foundation Grant (2022) and the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship (2022). Her work has been featured in exhibitions worldwide, including the 4th Lagos Biennale (2024), 12th Berlin Biennale (2022) and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, NYC. As an educator and writer, she has contributed to publications like THISDAY Newpaper and authored art books for Nigerian schools.
