Jeffrey Bruce Allan

South African 1984- 

Jeffrey Bruce Allan in a South African artist based in Gqeberha in 1984.

He completed his Master's degree in Fine Arts at Nelson Mandela University, where he explored artistic intent at its confluence with material.
A long fascination with the physicality and materiality of sculptural form and its active spatial presence led Allan to its practical study. During his studies he discovered and was influenced by many artists, chief amongst them is Dame Barbara Hepworth and Constantin Brancusi. The conversant relationship between form and material that these artists contain within their work is what has resonated most with him. Allan subsequently chose abstraction as a vehicle for his artistic inquiries as it allows and requires a specific focus on formal and material considerations.
