Abel Mohlokoana

20th Century 

Abel Mohlokoana was born in Lidgetton in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, and matriculated in 2017. He enrolled in a training course at The Caversham Press , Ardmore’s neighbouring creative enterprise. Under the tutelage of Malcolm Christian he learned book binding, printing, monotyping and dry point etching. Christian recognised Mohlokoana’s talents and suggested that he join Ardmore, which he did in 2018. He found his place in the design studio, where he began drawing and painting motifs for the Sabie Collection under Catherine Berning’s mentorship. Mohlokoana also works as a ceramic painter and is currently studying graphic design.
