Manyatsa Monyamane

South African 1989- 

Manyatsa Monyamane, a visual storyteller based in Gauteng, sheds light on often marginalized stories. She holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand. Monyamane's groundbreaking photography has earned her recognition, including the Multi & New Media Merit Award, Lizamore & Associates Mentorship Program Winner, and the Merit Award from the Absa L’Atelier Art Competition, leading to a residency with the Ampersand Foundation in New York City. She was also a finalist for the International Women Photographers Award with a travelling exhibition in Dubai, New Delhi, Tokyo, and Paris and received the University of Stellenbosch Woordfees Award for Visual Arts. World Press Photo selected her as one of the six African talents in the 4th edition of the 6x6 Global Talent Program, and she was awarded the Tierney Fellowship for photography.
