Ingrid Uys

South African 1985- 

Ingrid Uys is the oldest of three siblings in a close-knit Afrikaans family. Uys enjoyed growing up in various small towns and close to nature in the provinces of the Free State and Mpumalanga, South Africa. Uys spent many hours visually documenting her world, and from a very young age she frequently escaped into painting and drawing. Specialising in oil painting, she explores and refines her themes and subject matter, always drawing from her own life and surroundings as inspiration. Uys held her first show at the Turbine Art Fair 2018 with the White River Gallery and has since exhibited at TAF for six consecutive years; in 2022 she had a solo exhibition. Uys currently lives and works in Johannesburg with her husband and three young children.
