Griet van der Meulen

South African 1956- 

Griet van der Meulen has exhibited her work in galleries, academic institutions, and venues across South Africa, Germany, and Canada. She earned a residency in Germany sponsored by the Mpumalanga municipality and the German Frauen Kunstforum. Her art is featured in private collections worldwide and public collections, like the Mpumalanga Municipal Collection. Van der Meulen's art is rooted in ecofeminism and often centres on gardens. She explores the healing aspects of gardens and connects her own garden to the concept of the Garden of Eden, emphasizing the importance of non-destructive coexistence with the environment. Her work also speaks to climate change and planetary healing by addressing various levels of toxicity.
