Slindile Mchunu

20th Century 

Slindile Mchunu was born in 1992. She attended Mountain View Primary School, Meadowsweet Combined School, Hlabane High School and Innovatus FET College. After college and unable to find employment, Mchunu was encouraged by her aunts, Jabu and Zinhle, to come to Ardmore in 2015. Her mother, Winnie Nene, is a painter at Ardmore. Winnie is a cousin of Jabu and Zinhle Nene, who are Ardmore painters of design. Mchunu attended Ardmore's first Winter School in June/July 2015 and has continued painting under the mentorship of her aunts. Mchunu chose to come to Ardmore at a particularly difficult stage in her family's life in order 'to put bread on the table'. Her goal is to keep on improving her painting skills to further her artistic talent.
