Johannesburg-based photographer Liam Lynch is acclaimed for his evocative documentation of urban evolution and intimate portraiture of the South African music scene. His work serves as a visual narrative of a city in flux, capturing the quiet complexities of belonging and the deep attachments residents form with their environment.

While his lens has documented a vast spectrum of local artists and venues, Lynch is most renowned for his definitive, long-term collaboration with the iconic Afrikaans rock band Fokofpolisiekar. His raw, personal imagery of the group has become a seminal record of their cultural impact. Lynch’s work earned international acclaim in 2013 when he was featured in the Sharp Sharp Johannesburg exhibition at Paris's La Gaîté Lyrique, exhibiting alongside luminaries such as Zanele Muholi and Roger Ballen.
