Danna Margo

South African 1995- 

Danna, born in 1995, is a South African multidisciplinary artist. She received her BA Fine Arts Degree from the University of Pretoria with a major in mixed media and installation.

In addition to graduating with distinction in her professional practice, Danna has participated in various group exhibitions hosted by the University. Namely; Ab Initio (2015), Interim (2016), and Parabilis (2017). Margo was invited to participate in the For-Sale Group Exhibition (2017) at the Pretoria Art Museum alongside five other artists, which subsequently led to her being awarded a Dual Exhibition with Sello Letswalo (2018) after selling the greatest number of artworks.

She has exhibited in the Absa Gallery as one of Absa L’Atelier’s Top 100 (2018) as well as exhibiting in the RMB Turbine Art Fair (2019). Danna’s artwork is situated within the discourse of New Materiality, which recognises the sensuous immediacy and life force within materials. As for her process, Danna employs an experimental investigation of the subjective-objective dichotomy and how it is articulated within and through the material characteristics of wood glue.
