Chris Slabber

South African 1981- 

Chris Slabber is a mixed-media artist based in Stillbay, Western Cape.

Formerly trained in Graphic Design and Illustration, Slabber gradually transitioned from commercial artist to fine artist. Drawing on a 17 year long design career that spans international campaigns and digital accolades-including multiple A' Design Awards and ADC recognition-Slabber now channels that compositional knowledge into bold, physical gestures. From 2017, he shifted his focus exclusively to analog, handcrafted work. Working primarily in collage and acrylic-on-wood, his compositions are immersive studies in materiality, ambiguity, and sensory resonance.
