Heleen Schröder

South Africa 1976- 

Heleen Schröder studied information design and philosophy in Pretoria, South Africa, and now lives in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. To draw and make notes are, for her, ways of looking at and understanding the world. The search for a means to translate the private expression of the sketchbook into public forms is a continuing artistic challenge. This has led to an engagement with graphic media and artists’ books, and installations combining drawings, watercolours, and ceramic tablets. In recent years she has also developed a line of ceramic wares for domestic use.
