Olivia Scholnick

South African 1927-2015 

Olivia Scholnick studied music at Stellenbosch University and then graphics at the Cape Town Art Centre under artist Kevin Atkinson. At first a music teacher, she turned to painting full time in 1963. Scholnick is known for her landscape paintings that feature bold lines, vivid colour, and forms that push the boundary towards abstraction. Scholnik exhibited in solo and group shows both locally and abroad throughout her career.
