Born in 1995 in Ghana to a mother in the fashion industry, Prince Gyasi is a self-taught contemporary photographer currently living in Accra. He started taking images on his phone while studying IT at University Gyasi. He has continued using his iPhone as his main medium. Gyasi has grapheme synaesthesia, where he sees colours as numbers and dates. He uses this to capture images of his community through vibrant colours and striking silhouettes. Gyasi manages to emphasise playfulness while acknowledging hardship. He upholds this philosophy through BoxedKids, a charity he co-founded that provides creative outlets for children and funding for their education.

Prince Gyasi signed to Nil Gallery in Paris in 2018. Gyasi’s artworks have been exhibited at the Seattle Art Fair (2018), London Art Fair (2019), the Investec Cape Town Art Fair (2019) and the Pulse Miami Beach Contemporary Art Fair (2021). He has collaborated with Pirelli on their annual calendar (2024), designed a collection for Balmain inspired by his work (2024) and appeared in Pharrell Williams’ FEMMES exhibition (2025). He has also worked with Apple, been interviewed by BBC World and BBC Africa, and his work has appeared in Vogue and Elle Japan. Gyasi’s artworks appear in famous collections including the Jean Pigozzi Collection and the François Pinault Foundation.
