Sue Martin is a South African painter and printmaker. She was born in KwaZulu-Natal in 1961 and currently resides in Johannesburg. Martin completed a Fine Arts degree at the University of Natal (now University of KwaZulu-Natal) in Pietermaritzburg in the early 1980s. She held her first solo show in 1999 at Enviro Gallery, Johannesburg, and has held several more since then. She has also taken part in several group shows, including the Turbine Art Fair, the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, and the FNB Johannesburg Art Fair. Her series Urban Cowboys (2009) was acquired by the Independent Electoral Commission for inclusion in their permanent collection, and the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce added a selection of works from her The Cartographer’s Notes (2020) series to their art collection. In 2023, she participated in a residency at the Artists’ Press.
