Kobus la Grange

South African 1982- 

Kobus la Grange, born in the Freestate, South Africa, grew up on a farm in Viljoenskroon. He studied sculpture and ceramics at Pretoria Technikon, where he later lectured in the ceramics department. His versatile sculptural creations explore the human form's poetry and its embedded narratives. While rooted in wood carving tradition, he also employs cast bronze, welded steel, ceramics, and fire sculpture. La Grange's work, the spontaneous and deliberate nature of which reflects his meticulous craft training, evokes folktales and campfire storytelling, marked by raw and authentic expressions.
