Rosemarie Mariott

South African 1943- 

Rosemarie Marriott was born and grew up on a farm in the Kuruman district of the Northern Cape. Making art for Marriott is a deeply meditative and intuitive process. Living in a violent society, particularly the abuse of women and children, undeniably influences Marriott's work, which deals with both the protection and loss of innocence. Marriott has had numerous solo and group exhibitions locally and abroad. Her work can be found in private, public, and corporate collections, notably the Pretoria Art Museum, Johannesburg Art Gallery and Kimberly Art Museum.
