John Lizamore

South African 1993- 

John Lizamore was born in Potchefstroom and currently resides in Gqerberha, South Africa. The self-taught artist works in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, collage, sculpture, and pen.
Lizamore's practice is primarily conceptual: the idea behind a piece often determines the medium and approach he decides to use. Some thoughts and themes that preoccupy the artist and the work he produces at the moment include how our recollection shifts with time and experience, family ties and unintended harm, self-doubt that arises in the creative process and beauty as a pure expression of appreciation and love.
The artist has exhibited in numerous exhibitions across South Africa and has been included as a finalist in the Sasol New Signatures competition in both 2024 and 2025.
