Dylan Graham

South African 1977- 

Dylan Graham's art seemingly captures ordinary subjects randomly selected from his surroundings. While his work is primarily figurative and representational, he places great emphasis on the tactile and expressive qualities of paint, delving into abstract concepts related to painting itself. His pieces exist as both images and expressions of paint, blending substance and shadow, the seen and unseen, precise representation and subtle suggestion. They evoke a sense of the past, hints of traditional painting, the unfolding present, and glimpses of the future. Graham's art thrives on ambiguity and duality, offering viewers a fresh perspective on the act of seeing. He recently completed his Fine Art Masters at the University of Pretoria in 2022.
