Peter Eastman

British/South African 1976- 


South African artist Peter Eastman studied at the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art. Initially, he worked as an antiquities restorer in London before returning to South Africa. He currently lives and works in Cape Town as a full-time artist. Eastman is an experimental artist who enjoys exploring a variety of techniques and mediums such as chrome, enamel, resin, wax, graphite, and oil and acrylic paints. He is recognized for his style that predominantly involves mono- or duo-chromatic compositions.

In 2003, he was selected as a finalist for the Absa L’Atelier Award, and in 2004, he held his first solo exhibition, Reflective, at Stevenson in Cape Town. He also took part in the SASOL New Signatures exhibition in 2005. Eastman's artwork has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both locally and internationally, and he has participated in various art fairs throughout the world, including those held in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Basel, Switzerland; and Milan, Italy.
