South African 20th Century 

Norman Catherine, born in 1949, is a prolific contemporary artist from South Africa who creates across various media. His art combines humour and surrealism while addressing the socio-political issues of South Africa. In 1978, he started working with Allan Cameron on the graphic novel that ultimately became The Legend of Memo the Heirophant. This project was published by Orion in the United Kingdom in 1995, marking nearly twenty years of collaboration.
