Nellien Brewer

South African 1961- 

Nellien Brewer was born in 1961 and grew up in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. First qualifying as a Landscape Architect, Brewer returned to pursuing her first love of art in 2003 and completed the Bachelor of Visual Arts through Unisa in 2011.

In her work, she explores the complexity of natural systems - often juxtaposed with the philosophies that have shaped human thought. She employs a variety of media in her artmaking, but her work has become increasingly computer-based, as this allows a level of detail impossible to achieve by hand.

She has exhibited in numerous exhibitions, nationally and internationally including the 11th International Triennial of Graphic Art - Bitola, China and Espace Vision D'Art Paris and SASOL New Signatures Art Competition finalist.

The artist has awarded with the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Award 2009 - Art on Paper Merit Award and Ekurhuleni National Fine Arts Award 2008- Top 15 Artist.

Her work is featured public and private collections across South Africa and internationally.
