Leonora Everard-Haden

South African 1937-

Leonora Everard-Haden, born in 1937, is a third-generation member of ‘The Everard Group’, a family of artistic women. Her grandmother, Bertha, and Bertha’s sister, Edith, formed the group's first generation, followed by her mother, Ruth, and her aunt, Rosamund. Everard-Haden studied Fine Arts at the University of Natal (now the University of KwaZulu-Natal) and then lithography at the Central St Martin’s School of Art in London in 1960. She returned to South Africa and became an art teacher at St Andrew’s School for Girls in Johannesburg. Like the women before her, Everard-Haden’s art comprises beautiful romantic landscapes – often mountainous terrain but also of KwaZulu-Natal’s coast. She also produced intimate interior vignettes and expressive still lives.
