Value your Art?Do you know the value of your Katherine Glenday?

Katherine Glenday

South African 1960-

Katherine Glenday lives and works in Cape Town. Her training included a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Natal, followed by an Honours degree in Art from the University of Cape Town. A primary influence was leading ceramicist Marietjie van der Merwe. Through many years of consistent practise, Glenday has perfected her skills to produce highly refined, paper-thin porcelain vessels. Her delicate vessels are mostly wheel thrown or slip-cast with minimal decoration using minerals and oxides from the natural world. Shadows and silhouettes created by light permeating the translucent porcelain emphasise the movement and organic texture of Glenday’s delicate vessels.

Glenday has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and South Africa, including most recently at Ateliers Courbet in New York and Art Formes at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2024. She has been the recipient of numerous prestigious ceramics awards in South Africa, and her work can be found in many of the country’s public art collections, including the William Humphries Collection in Kimberley.
