Johan Steyn

South African 1968- 

Johan Steyn challenges himself to master various artmaking processes, including engraving, metalwork, and painting. In his late 40s, he decided to become a professional artist and his solo exhibition, They Are Disappearing, was a successful endeavour. He then semi-grated to Muizenberg in the Western Cape and developed as a bronze sculptor focusing on African wildlife, human figures, busts, angels, and the “Minky and the Sunbird range”. This maverick artist’s sculptures and work speak for his uncompromised dedication and value system as a human being making a positive contribution to art and society whilst becoming a recognised sculptor.
