Nigerian 1981- 

Ifeoma U Anyaeji is a Nigerian neo-traditional artist born in Benin City. She is known for her distinctive ‘Plasto-Art’ sculptures and installations. Through her innovative use of discarded plastic bags and bottles, she blends traditional Nigerian hair-plaiting techniques (threading) with the modern environmental act of upcycling. Anyaeji’s work explores the impact of waste, modernity, and cultural identity, incorporating elements of Igbo folklore, fashion, and the human body. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a doctoral candidate at Concordia University, Illinois. Anyaeji has exhibited widely across Africa, Europe, and the USA.
