Graeme Williams, born in 1961 in Cape Town, is a renowned South African photographer, recognised for his powerful depiction of the country’s social and political transformation. With over 30 years in photography, his work explores themes of societal change, covering South Africa’s transition to democracy in the early 1990s for Reuters and capturing both iconic figures like Mandela and ordinary citizens. Williams has held solo exhibitions worldwide, including at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and his work is featured in prominent collections like the Apartheid Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, DC. He has won numerous accolades, including the 2013 Ernest Cole Award.
