Gcina Sam Maduna

South African 1956- 

Gcina Maduna is a self-taught artist specialising in pastel and has more recently begun exploring the effects of mixed media. His lifelong love of jazz and its musicality is evident in his compositions combined with his unique colour intuition. His works convey energy, movement and syncopated sound. He has also created evocative and moving portraits. Maduna was selected as a Top 100 Sanlam Portrait finalist in 2023.
