Frances MacDonald is an artist known for her beach landscapes that capture the true character of the coastline of Argyll and the Western Isles. She is known for her use of a palette knife to
depict rock forms and create convincing three-dimensionality in her compositions. Her work draws a powerful connection between land, sea, and sky, immersing the viewer in the raw beauty and changing moods of the west coast of Scotland.

Living and working in the unspoiled coastal village of Crinan, Frances Macdonald remains deeply immersed in the environment that so powerfully informs her art.
