Mahi Binebine

Moroccan 1959- 

Mahi Binebine, a Moroccan artist and writer, was born in Marrakesh in 1959. He relocated to Paris in 1980 to study and teach mathematics, later moving to New York City in the mid-to-late 1990s, before ultimately returning to Morocco. His works, deeply rooted in Moroccan culture, delve into themes of exile, identity, and the human experience, often portraying figures caught in complex, poignant situations. Binebine’s art has been exhibited worldwide and is featured in the Guggenheim collection in New York City.
