Cornè Theron

South African 1974- 

Cornè Theron was born in Worcester in the Western Cape in 1974. After earning a law degree from the University of the Free State in 1997, she pursued her passion for art, eventually transitioning to a full-time artist. Theron is a self-described neo-optical contemporary artist who is concerned with water as a metaphor for the subconscious mind, exploring themes of memory and human behaviour. She utilises different types of glass as filters to create abstract, pixelated images, often depicting women swimming underwater. Throughout her career, Theron has exhibited both locally in South Africa and internationally, with shows in countries including China, Germany, Italy, and the United States.
