Heidi Fourie

South African 1990- 

Heidi Fourie, a full-time artist and part-time lecturer, completed her BA Fine Arts (cum laude) in 2012 at the University of Pretoria. Her sixth solo exhibition at 99 Loop Gallery, Cape Town took the figure to unstructured verdant environments as a cathartic exploration of her psychological landscape. She veers away from straight lines, embracing lyrical loops, and winding strokes. Figures merge with painterly backdrops and transparent layers reveal a space beyond the pigment veil. Fourie works predominantly in thinned, fluid oil paint, and frequently collaborates with David Krut Projects exploring various printmaking techniques.
