Ian Houston

British 1934-2021 

Ian Houston was initially a concert pianist who trained at the Royal College of Music in London. However, after enrolling in a part-time painting course at St Martin’s School of Art, he stepped away from music to focus on his art. In 1956, he began exhibiting his artwork in London and the following year he met Edward Seago, a popular English painter, who would become his mentor. Seago encouraged Houston to focus on landscape painting, which he did in an impressionistic/post-impressionistic style.
