Gari Louridas

South African 1969- 

Gari Louridas is South African ceramic artist, based in Knysna, Western Cape.

Discovering clay in 2016 was a pivotal point in Louridas' artistic journey. The artist's porcelain vessels are a blend of artistry and tradition, each piece begins as hand-knit or crocheted fabric infused with a touch of nostalgia and family heritage.

She is a recipient of various awards, being awarded the Van Tuyl Kiln Award in 2019 and 2022, receiving second place in the Innibos National Craft Award in 2021 and The Glazecor Award at the Corobrik National Ceramics Biennale in 2024. Louridas' works have been exhibited throughout South Africa including the Ceramics for Change Exhibition in 2020 and Clay Awards Exhibition linked to the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in 2024.
