Rob’s career started in the electronic media industry after graduating in electronic engineering from Stellenbosch University. He has achieved significant milestones in the fields of electronics and software design, international project management, building commercial relationships with suppliers and customers and nurturing professional people as teams and individuals. He played a major role in the development of the satellite TV system used by DSTV and other operators around the world. In 2000 Rob left corporate life to explore a more diverse and authentic set of pursuits including management consulting. This period represents a significant diversion from his earlier technical and corporate engagements with a focus on his development and practice as an artist, responding to a drive to make a contribution to his world that is beyond rational, practical and material bounds.

Since 2001 Rob has mounted 9 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in galleries, theatres and restaurants in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Berlin. He has received commissions from some of South Africa’s most respected dance companies and his work has been published locally and internationally. Rob has also been cited in a number of student projects and works. He has engaged in collaborations with dance, co-creating animations integrated with performance as well as creating a body of work with a jewellery designer. He has received commissions to co-create audio visual performance designs for arts festivals, productions and installations.
