La Croix du Casse

France - Bordeaux

For many years, Château La Croix du Casse was under the proprietorship of Jean-Michel Arcaute, the previous owner of Château Jonqueyres and world-famous Chateau Clinet. Jean-Michel was one of Bordeaux’s true innovators and pioneers and made Croix du Casse one of the leading properties in Pomerol. The château owns 9 hectares of vines (80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc) located on the southern tip of the famous Pomerol plateau. The vineyards sit on gravel and sandy soils with a high content of iron-dioxide, giving the wines flavours typical of their appellation. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats and aged in oak barriques (50% new) for 24 months before being bottled (unfined and unfiltered). In 2005, Château La Croix du Casse was acquired by the Castéja family – the owners of trading group Borie-Manoux.
