Doisy-Daëne

France - Bordeaux

Château Doisy-Daëne is an esteemed estate known for its sweet white wines, located in the Barsac commune within Bordeaux. It is a Grand Cru Classé Second Growth under the classification of 1855, which took place in Sauternes and Barsac at the same time as the famous classification of the Médoc and Graves. Doisy-Daëne has been owned by the Dubourdieu family since 1924. The estate makes three wines from 18 hectares of vineyard. These are planted mostly to Semillon, with a small portion of Sauvignon Blanc.

Daëne appears in the classification of Charles Cocks (1846), among the four premier crus of Barsac with Coutet, Climens and Myrat. In 1850, the same author ranked it among the first eleven white wines of Bordeaux. The name Doisy Daëne results from the addition to the Doisy cru of the name of its owner, Jean-Jacques-Emmanuel Daëne, merchant in Bordeaux. Moreover, the vintage appearing in the 1855 classification is Doisy belonging to Daëne.
