de Lacaze

Gascony - France

Château de Lacaze was a small estate producer in the Bas Armagnac appellation, the most celebrated and westerly of Armagnac's three production zones, where deep, sandy, iron-rich soils known as boulbènes and sableux produce brandies of uncommon elegance and finesse from the traditional local grape varieties: Folle Blanche, Baco, Colombard and Ugni Blanc. The Bas Armagnac appellation produces spirits of a lighter, more floral and more aromatic character than those of the more easterly Ténarèze and Haut Armagnac zones, and Château de Lacaze exemplified this style in every vintage it produced before the estate ceased production.
