La Mission Haut Brion, Leoville Barton, Langoa Barton

France - Bordeaux

Château La Mission Haut Brion
Château Haut Brion is one of the First Growths of Bordeaux and its unique terroir has produced prized wines for close to 600 years. After a visit on May 25, 1787, Thomas Jefferson wrote in his diary; “The soil of Haut-Brion, which I examined in great detail, is made up of sand, in which there is near as much round gravel or small stones and very little loam like the soils of the Medoc."

Château Léoville Barton
Château Léoville Barton is the smallest portion of the great Léoville estate and has been owned by the Barton family since 1826. Classified as a 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855 and lies within the iconic terroir of Saint Julien in the Médoc. The Barton family's passion for wine is reflected in the elegance and consistency of each vintage, a traditional reflection of fine Bordeaux.

Château Langoa Barton
Château Langoa Barton is a winery and vineyard in the Saint-Julien appelation of the Médoc. In the official 1855 Bordeaux classification it was ranked as a third growth. Like many wines made in the area, Langoa Barton is Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant, but with more Merlot than its adjacent sibling estate, Léoville Barton. Somewhat confusingly, the château features on the label of Léoville Barton – which has no château building or winery of its own – but not on Langoa's. In 1821, Anglo-Irish wine merchant Hugh Barton bought Château Langoa and a portion of the Léoville estate which became Léoville Barton. Anthony Barton inherited the two properties from his uncle Ronald in 1983.
