Burlotto

Italy - Barolo

Comm. G.B. Burlotto is a historic, family-run estate based in Verduno in the heart of the Barolo region of Piedmont. Founded in 1850 by Giovanni Battista Burlotto, the estate is recognised as one of the earliest producers to bottle wine at the domaine rather than selling in barrel, establishing a pioneering role in the history of Barolo.

Today, the estate is run by Fabio Alessandria, great-grandnephew of the founder, who continues the family’s traditional approach while elevating the precision and purity of its wines. Burlotto is especially celebrated for its elegant, finely structured style of Nebbiolo, which contrasts with more powerful expressions from other Barolo communes, favouring perfume, finesse, and remarkable balance.

The estate’s wines from Verduno and surrounding crus are highly sought after, with the flagship Barolo Acclivi representing a blend of the estate’s top vineyard parcels. It is regarded as one of the most refined expressions of Barolo, combining aromatic complexity, lifted structure, and exceptional ageing potential, and is widely considered a benchmark for the modern-classic style of the region.
