France - Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine 

Louis Métaireau – Grand Mouton is one of the historic names of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine and was instrumental in establishing the region's reputation for age-worthy, terroir-driven wines. Louis Métaireau founded the Domaine du Grand Mouton and was among the pioneering producers who championed the traditional sur lie method, allowing the wines to remain on their fine lees after fermentation to develop greater texture, complexity and longevity. The estate is situated in Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, between the Sèvre and Maine rivers, with old vines planted on a distinctive mosaic of gneiss, granite and amphibolite soils. Today, the domaine's wines continue to reflect the mineral freshness and precision of Melon de Bourgogne, with traditional sur lie ageing remaining central to their character.
