Caronne Ste Gemme

France - Bordeaux

Château Caronne Ste Gemme is a Bordeaux estate just south of Saint-Julien in the Haut-Médoc. Its grand vin is a classic Bordeaux blend, and was classified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of Haut-Médoc in 1932 and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1966.

The château takes its name from the Gaelic word carona, meaning "little spring". The estate has an extensive history dating back to the mid 17th Century, but the first recorded mention of winemaking at Château Caronne Ste Gemme did not appear until the late 18th Century. Emile and Eugène Borie acquired the estate in 1900 and later passed the property down to their descendants. Today, Caronne Ste Gemme is owned by Jean and Francois Nony.
