Glenkinchie

Scotland

Glenkinchie traces its origins to 1825, when brothers John and George Rate began distilling at the Milton Distillery on their East Lothian farmlands, renaming it Glenkinchie in 1837 after the Kinchie Burn that runs through the glen. Located just 15 miles south-east of Edinburgh, it has been celebrated as "The Edinburgh Malt" since Diageo adopted it as the Lowlands standard-bearer in their Classic Malts selection in 1988. The distillery is home to some of the largest pot stills in Scotland, with its wash still holding the record as the largest in the country: their enormous scale produces a spirit of inherent lightness and floral delicacy that is the defining signature of the Lowland style.
