Georges Vernay

France - Rhône Valley 

An iconic Estate in the Rhône Valley, the Domaine Vernay is famous for its Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie wines. It was established in Condrieu in the 1930’s by Francis Vernay with the planting of his first vines in Coteau de Vernon. The passion for the region and its wine continued with his son, George Vernay in the 1950’s, who is famous for having saved the Viognier grape from extinction, by replanting large parts of Condrieu to the grape variety and bringing notoriety to this unique appellation. In 1996, Christine Vernay, took over the reins from her father, and continues to make the wines today.
