William Hutton & Sons Ltd

Hutton’s, a renowned silversmithing firm, was founded by William Hutton in Birmingham in 1800 and later moved to Sheffield in 1832. His son, William Carr Hutton, expanded the business, registering several silver marks and introducing electroplating in 1843. After William Carr Hutton's death in 1865, his sons continued the business under various names, including William Hutton & Son and William Hutton & Sons, with the firm expanding significantly in the late 19th century. In 1893, it became a limited company, William Hutton & Sons Ltd. The company acquired Rupert Favell & Co. and Creswick & Co. over the years, continuing to produce luxury silverware until it was absorbed by James Dixon & Sons in 1930.
