Pomellato was founded in 1967 by Pino Rabolini in his native home, Milan. From its conception the brand endorsed a revolutionary goal: Rabolini wanted to create pret-a-porter (ready-to-wear) jewellery without sacrificing quality. He recognised the shift in society in the post war period and how women’s jewellery was becoming less formal. Pomellato jewellery embodies the joie-de-vivre of the cocktail party era executed with the same artistry and care of high fine jewellery.

The son of an Italian goldsmith, Rabolini understood the subtle, yet broad tones achievable within gold and created the brand’s signature alloy of warm rose gold. He matched warm pink tinged gold, with a rainbow of bright coloured gems. He was also unafraid to place precious gems alongside semi-precious stones for bold colour combinations. Pomellato pieces are instantly recognisable for their rainbow of semi-precious gemstones often accented with the glitter of white diamonds. Stones included in Pomellato pieces are typically cut in the house’s signature square cut with rounded edges and faceted as seen in the Nudo collection of solitaire rings. This simple, but recognisable, signature design makes the perfect canvas for colours: from gold yellow citrines to pastel pink rose quartz, deep purple amethysts, or blue topaz, turquoise and tourmaline.
