Flygsfors Glasbruk

Flygsfors, Sweden

Flygsfors Glass was established in Sweden in 1888 by Ernst Wiktor Lundqvist and August Zeitz. The company underwent several changes in ownership over the decades and began producing tableware in 1930 under the name AB Flygsfors Glasbruk.

In 1939, Willem G. de Moor was appointed art director, and in 1949, Paul Kedelv (formerly of Orrefors) joined the company, remaining until 1956. Kedelv is best known for his iconic Coquille range, a series of elegant, organic forms that became synonymous with Flygsfors. While he was at the factory, pieces were typically signed “Flygsfors”, followed by the year and “Kedelv.” After his departure, the Coquille designs continued to be produced and were instead signed “Coquille.”

Flygsfors was acquired by Orrefors in 1974 and ultimately ceased operations in 1979.
