Johan Hendrik Vos

Johan Hendrik Vos was the son of Jan Hendrik Vos (born 1715) and Johanna Bok, and was baptised at the Cape on 23 March 1749. He married Judith Elisabeth Mulder on 13 December 1767; she died without issue. He later married Elisabeth Rossouw on 29 July 1770, with whom he had twelve children.

Vos was apprenticed to the silversmith Johann Hasse for a period of five years, commencing on 7 October 1761. His youngest brother, Michiel Christiaan Vos, in turn served his apprenticeship under him from 1774 to 1779.
