Pieter Pieterse

Netherlands

Pieter Pieterse was active from 1846 to 1870. He was born in Amsterdam in 1821. He became a silversmith in 1846 and died in 1903. On January 31, Pieter Pieterse was registered as a foreman with the assay office. In 1855, after the death of silversmith Bentveld, he went to work for the firm A. Bonebakker & Zoon until 1870. His silverwork for the Bonebakker firm then bore his master's mark and the shopkeeper's mark of A. Bonebakker & Zoon. The finest pieces of silverware during that period were made by his hand/hammer, e.g. the here offered bachelor set. From 1855 onward, he also managed the workshop of A. Bonebakker & Zoon on Korte Leidsedwarsstraat
