Oltman Ahlers

Cape Colony 


Active: c.1800-1827

Oltman Ahlers was a Cape silversmith, the son of Oltman Alders of Oldenburg and Dorothea of Bengal. He married Maria Magdalena Hauptfleisch, the widow of the silversmith Jan Casper Brevis.

Records show that he worked at several addresses in the Cape Colony over the course of his career: at 3 Loop Street in 1800; 17 Lange Street from 1810 to 1823; 30 Wale Street between 1824 and 1825; 19 Wale Street in 1826; and finally at 16 Wale Street in 1827.
