Beverley Price

South Africa 1956-

Beverly Price is a South African jewellery artist whose practice spans jewellery, sculpture, large adornment objects, photography, and video. Trained at Sir John Cass (London, UK) and Wits School of Arts, she is currently completing her MA at Haifa University, Israel, focusing on “Nazi Gold.” Having lived in rural Ixopo, she developed a unique method using photographic units (“photemes”) and taught it to a group of women from Alexandra, with works sold internationally. Post-apartheid, her practice has sought a hybrid aesthetic, merging indigenous adornment traditions with Western techniques. Price has exhibited widely, including at the Museum of Arts and Design (New York), Schmuck Sonderschau (Munich), and the Design Museum (London), and her work is held in prestigious collections such as MAD New York, Queen Sonia of Norway, and the Johannesburg Art Gallery. An Art Jewelry Forum ambassador for South Africa since 2014, Price continues to challenge perceptions of material value and cultural identity through innovative adornment.
